10 persons linked to PFI arrested in Assam

Post the detention, PFI activists took to the streets and resorted to blocking roads in lower Assam against the arrests. The protesters blocked roads in Nagarbera, Boko, Goalpara and other places.

GUWAHATI:

The Assam police in a joint operation with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) detained 10 persons linked to the Popular Front of India (PFI), a police official said on September 22.

As per reports the arrested persons have been identified as PFI state president Aminul Haque, PFI state secretary Robiul Hussain, Abdul Razzak, Rafiqul Islam, Nazrul Islam Bhuyan, Abu Sama Ahmed, Farhad Ali, Khalilur Rahman, Mufti Rahmatullah, and Bazlul Karim

Police informed that Haque was picked up this morning from his house in Guwahati, and the other members were arrested from Kamrup metro, Nagaon, Barpeta and Baksa districts.

Post the detention, PFI activists took to the streets and resorted to blocking roads in lower Assam against the arrests. The protesters blocked roads in Nagarbera, Boko, Goalpara and other places.

Meanwhile, the state PFI office in Hatigaon has been sealed by the police.

Notably, Haque was also arrested two years back in connection with CAA protests in Assam.
