The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Genesis Max Foundation, Abhijeet Oberoi, announced on September 20 that the first edition of North East Pride Cup will be held in Shillong on September 24-25 at the Assam Rifles football ground in Laitkor.
The Genesis Max Foundation will collaborate with Assam Don Bosco University Guwahati for the event to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Don Bosco in India.
The North East Pride Cup is an amateur tournament for players under the categories of Under-14, Under-16 and Under-19 in the 7 North Eastern States of India.
The purpose of the tournament is to encourage football in the region in a safe and structured environment, while also developing psychosocial qualities like sportsmanship, team spirit, and leadership.
To mark and celebrate the centenary year of Don Bosco in India, 19 zone-wise tournaments will be conducted in two phases across the North East India region wherein the schools and academies in each city can send their teams to participate in the tournament.
The best teams from each tournament (zone) will get a chance to come for Finale in Guwahati city and fight for the North East Pride Cup.
