23-year-old falls to death in Mawmluh gorge

A resident of Nongmynsong, Shillong, and a helper at Pala Resort, Shillong, Bankynmaw was enjoying leisure time with a friend near the 100 Water Falls Camping Site when the unfortunate incident occurred.

SOHRA:

A 23-year-old, identified as Bankynmaw Lyngdoh Mairang, lost his life after falling into a deep gorge on January 28, at the popular tourist spot in Mawmluh, Sohra (Cherrapunjee), Meghalaya.

A resident of Nongmynsong, Shillong, and a helper at Pala Resort, Shillong, Bankynmaw was enjoying leisure time with a friend near the 100 Water Falls Camping Site when the unfortunate incident occurred.

The village elders and authorities promptly alerted Sohra Police and the SRT team. After several hours of intense efforts, the team managed to retrieve and pull out the lifeless body. The deceased’s body was sent to Sohra CHC for post-mortem examination.
