4th Pynneh La Riti ka Shad Sajer festival organised with much fanfare

Villagers displayed a colourful and vibrant show in the form folk dance and music narrating the traditions and history of the people living in the area

The fourth Pynneh La Riti ka Shad Sajer festival that intends to promote the culture and traditions of the people under the Hima Khadar Lyngdoh was organised at the BSA football ground in Byrnihat, on April 5.

Organised by the office of the Hima Khadar Lyngdoh confederation on sports, arts and culture, a plethora of events marked the programme showcasing the cultural roots of the people living in the area.

Villagers displayed a colourful and vibrant show in the form folk dance and music narrating the traditions and history of the people living in the area. Traditional rice beer made by the locals were distributed to the people during the programme.

During the event, 14 workers of the Hima were presented mementos as a token of appreciation and kind gesture.

Started in 2016, Shad Sajer Day is a special day for the Bhoi community, especially for the Hima Khadar Lyngdoh. The festival has since become an annual event in the district that is celebrated with much fanfare.

The event was attended by MLA of Umsning Constituency, Jason S. Mawlong, MLA of Jirang Constituency, Sosthenos Sohtun, Paiem Wanpharang Syiem of Nongpoh Sirdarship Elaka, including the headman attended the event.
