SHILLONG:
In a run-up to the Republic Day celebrations, the 58 Gorkha Training Centre (58 GTC) conducted a Mini Marathon, and Equipment and Weapon Display in Shillong. The events were aimed at deepening a sense of patriotism and motivating youth to join the Armed Forces.
The Weapon Display, on January 26, included modern assault rifles, surveillance systems, and combat equipment. It was attended by a large number of local populace, youth, and children. The event provided the locals, especially children and youth, with an opportunity to know the Indian Army and its capabilities.
The Mini Marathon, organised on January 21 received an overwhelming response, with around 300 soldiers, including their families and children from station units, participating in the event. At the culmination of the event, the Commandant 58 GTC felicitated the winners in each category.
