Voice of the People Party (VPP) candidate from North Shillong, Adelbert Nongrum, on January 16, knelt on the floor to pray to his father, seeking wisdom to do the right thing, during a public gathering organised by the Voice of the People Party (VPP) at Polo Ground here.
While addressing a gathering here in Polo Ground, Nongrum got down on his knees in the middle of his speech to pray to his father, seeking forgiveness for his past mistakes and the wisdom to not only do the good thing but the right thing.
“Not that I am playing any drama but allow me to pray to my father because I don’t want to be misled and to always remember your words — when in politics, I should focus not only on the good things but also the right thing,” he said.
In his speech, he spoke at length about his decision to quit KHNAM and join VPP. “We believe in the ideologies that Ardent and his party stand for and me leaving KHNAM does not mean abandoning my ideologies but carrying them forth to the new party,” he said.
