AITC won’t be a threat in 2023 polls: Pala

Pala’s remark came in reference to the decision of the four AITC MLAs to skip the maiden visit of the party national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on June 29.

SHILLONG:

Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) chief Vincent H Pala ruled out speculations that All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) will be a threat in the upcoming 2023 polls as many newly joined leaders will be leaving the party soon.

“I think people have joined AITC for obvious reasons, maybe with some commitment and TMC has failed to deliver on those commitments. We don’t know but from what I could see, AITC will not be a threat in the upcoming elections,” he said.

Pala’s remark came in reference to the decision of the four AITC MLAs to skip the maiden visit of the party national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on June 29.

“Leaders nowadays don’t join politics to serve the people but for their own benefits and win elections,” he said.

Pala further said that many will also be leaving the ruling National People’s Party (NPP). “However, what is important is with which party lies the sentiment of the people,” he added.
