Akash Choudhary’s four-wicket haul highlights Meghalaya vs. Sikkim Ranji Trophy opener

The Ranji Trophy plate group match between Meghalaya and Sikkim on the opening day at Sikkim’s home ground in Rangpo, Akash Kumar Choudhary made a significant impact by taking four wickets. Despite a challenging start for Sikkim, a middle-order resistance helped them reach a respectable score of 238/7 in 78 overs by the end of the first day.

Akash Kumar Choudhary played a crucial role for Meghalaya, dismissing two top-order batters and claiming the prized wickets of Palzor and Prasad, finishing with figures of 4/46 in 23 overs. Swarajeet Das, the fellow opening bowler, secured 2/38 in 13 overs, while left-arm spinner Aryan Borah, drafted from the U-23 men’s team for this game, took 1/82 in 21 overs.

As Meghalaya aims to take the remaining three wickets swiftly on the second day, they aim to restrict Sikkim from adding significantly to their overnight score.
