SHILLONG:
The Voice of the People Party (VPP) president and Nongkrem legislator, Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit, will begin his indefinite hunger strike from May 23 over the reservation policy in front of the Main Secretariat.
Basaiawmoit said that he was going on the indefinite hunger strike after the state government’s refusal to discuss the reservation policy while sticking to discussion only on the roster system.
On May 19, members of the VPP had walked of an all-party meeting citing the same reason.
Addressing those present on May 19 at the Additional Secretariat Parking Lot, Basaiawmoit had said that he would not back off from the indefinite hunger strike until the government discussed the reservation policy.
