GUWAHATI:

Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet gave the formal nod to recall the order of the new chairman and members of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) and recommended it to Governor for recalling the appointment orders of February 7.

Then Governor BD Mishra had appointed Shantanu Dayal as the chairman of the APPSC, and Koj Tari, Prof Pradip Lingfa and Rosy Taba as its members on February 7.

A decorated army officer, Dayal is a retired lieutenant general and was the deputy chief of army staff. He retired last year in October.

Tari is a retired colonel, while Prof Lingfa is from the NERIST. Taba is a former member of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights and the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women.

The posts of the chairman and the three members had fallen vacant following the resignation of the former officials from their respective posts in October 2022 after the leakage of the question paper for the recruitment test for appointment of assistant engineer exam came to light in August.

The year’s 7th meeting of the state cabinet which was held under the chairmanship of chief minister Pema Khandu also approved the memorandum of agreement (MOA) to be signed with Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSU) for the development of hydropower in the state.

“This will pave the way to unlocking potential 5 hydropower projects with an installed capacity of 2820 MW. This will spur huge investment in the state and generate employment,” a CMO release said.

“The Kaling Tayeng Committee on restructuring the Arunachal Pradesh Civil Service was deliberated in detail. The cabinet approved in principle a major part of the committee’s recommendation. This will pave way for a robust state civil service,” the release said.

The cabinet also approved the proposal for renewal of MoA and support to four events (Arunachal Got Talents, Arunachal Idol, Miss Arunachal and Mr Arunachal) for another three years as annual calendar events from 2023-24 fiscal.

The cabinet further decided to increase the grant in aid for the above events from the existing Rs 40 lakh to Rs 80 lakhs respectively.

“These platforms have nurtured the huge pool of talents of youths of our state who have made the State proud at the national level,” the release added.
