SHILLONG:
Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu has announced the naming of the Walong-Kibithu stretch in the state after (L) General Bipin Rawat.
He tweeted, “General Bipin Rawat Ji will always be remembered for his extraordinary contribution in bolstering India’s defence. In his honour, the Walong-Kibithu road in Arunachal will be named after him, where he rendered his valuable service as Commanding Officer of 5/11 Gorkha Rifles (sic).”
Furthermore, the Governor of Arunachal, Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (retd) dedicated the General Bipin Rawat Hall of Raj Bhawan, Itanagar, to the people of the state. The event was virtually graced by Kritika Rawat and Tarini, the daughters of the late General.
In December 2021, the four-star General had died in a helicopter crash along with his wife and eleven other Army personnel.
