ASEAN-INDIA music festival on Nov 22

The festival aims at strengthening relations of the North Eastern region and the country in general with the ASEAN nations. 

SHILLONG:

As part of extension of the ASEAN music festival being organised in Purana Qila, Delhi, North Eastern Hill University in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs will host the ASEAN-India music festival in the city.

It is scheduled to take place on November 22.

The festival aims at strengthening relations of the North Eastern region and the country in general with the ASEAN nations.

The one-day event will witness known bands from Myanmar, Indonesia, Singapore alongside the local band, COLOURS.

Professor Prasanit Biswas, Office of International Affairs informed that the festival is free for everybody, but for security reasons there will be passes allotted which can be collected from designated persons. He added, “With festivals being held all around, we are not singularly visible but we expect our student fraternity, alumni and people from the city to come in large numbers and make the festival a huge success.”

“This initiative was agreed upon by the honourable Vice-Chancellor keeping in mind the outcome of an international cultural exchange as such,” he added.
