Assam CM apprises PM Modi about development initiatives taken for state

In the course of his meeting with the PM at his official residence, Sarma said that he had apprised Modi about the various developmental projects and schemes taken up in the state.

GUWAHATI:

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on September 21, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and apprised him about the slew of developmental initiatives taken in the state.

“Called on Adarniya PM Shri @narendramodi ji & apprised him about various development initiatives in Assam. Also invited him to the concluding function of 400th birth anniversary of Lachit Borphukan at New Delhi on Nov 24,” Sarma tweeted after the meeting.

“Honoured to witness Adarniya PM Shri @narendramodi ji being presented with a copy of Braille edition of iconic Assamese dictionary ‘Hemkosh’ by Sadin Pratdin Group chairman Jayanta Baruah in presence of Hon’ble Union Minister Shri @sarbanandsonwal.

“The first Assamese dictionary, Hemkosh has now got the unique distinction of becoming the first Braille dictionary in #SEAsia. It was a special moment as Shri Jayanta Baruah, owner of leading Assamese media group Pratidin gifted a copy to PM Shri @narendramodi ji, Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal tweeted after meeting the Prime Minister,” Sarma added.

In the course of his meeting with the PM at his official residence, Sarma said that he had apprised Modi about the various developmental projects and schemes taken up in the state. He also informed the Prime Minister about the status of the underwater tunnel between Kaliabor and Jamuguri.

The chief minister also once again extended invitation to the Prime Minister to the concluding function of the 400th birth anniversary of Lachit Borphukan to be held in New Delhi on November 24.

Earlier, the first Braille edition of ‘Hemkosh’, an Assamese dictionary, was gifted to the Prime Minister by chairman of ‘Sadin-Pratidin’ Group of Publications, Jayanta Baruah in which chief minister Sarma and Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal were present.
