NONGPOH:
Assam has erected electric poles at Sabuda and Jatalong villages despite strong protests by the residents.
Blik Sohtun of Sabuda, who is also president of Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong of the area, said the Assam government had taken only a day to erect these electric polesĀ in the two villages adding that modern equipment Ā were used for the purpose.
He also said that they were helpless if the state government did not have any concern or will to oppose the Assam governmentās plan to supply electricity to these villages which the residents don’t wantĀ .
Sohtun said they have already sent their complaint to the Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tyngsong, and to the Deputy Commissioner of Ribhoi district to prevail upon the Assam government not to go ahead with its plan to supply power to these two villages and that they want it from their own state.
All headmen and people residing in these areas bordering Assam will hold a public rally in soon as a mark of protest against Assamās action.
