GUWAHATI:
Continuing the crusade against narcotics and crimes along the Indo-Bangla border, troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) Guwahati Frontier destroyed approximately five acres of illegal poppy plantation on February 28.
“Acting on a tip-off, a special joint operation was carried out by the troops of 169 Bn BSF and West Bengal excise for the destruction of the cultivation of poppy in Gadalerkuthi under Mathbhanga police station in Cooch Behar district,” a BSF spokesperson said here.
In view of border areas being vulnerable to illegal hemp and poppy cultivation, the BSF troops are making all-out efforts to prevent the commission of such crimes, the BSF official added.
