B’wood actor Akshay Kumar to visit Kaziranga National Park soon

According to KNPTR officials, the Bollywood actor was invited to take stock of the projects undertaken at the park using a donation of Rs 1 crore he made after 2019 floods in the park.

GUWAHATI:

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has accepted the invitation of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve (KNPTR) and will likely visit the park soon.

Announcing the same through a post on a popular micro-blogging website, the Gold actor, said, “This made my day… Thank you so much for the invitation to @kaziranga_, will definitely plan a visit soon (sic).”

According to KNPTR officials, the Bollywood actor was invited to take stock of the projects undertaken at the park using his donation, and also to enjoy the wildlife at the park.

Notably, the Bollywood actor had donated Rs 1 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund during the 2019 Kaziranga floods, which left many animals dead and displaced.

Kumar had highlighted the devastation caused by the floods on one of his social media handles in 2019, calling for support, and contributions for the park. “Absolutely heart-breaking to know about the devastation by floods in Assam. All affected, humans or animals, deserve support in this hour of crisis. I’d like to donate 1cr each to the CM Relief Fund & for the Kaziranga Park rescue. Appealing to all to contribute,” he had posted then.

Meanwhile, officials of KNPTR informed that the contribution by the actor has been used for construction of high land, floating camps, anti-poaching camps and development of wetlands.

The KNPTR authority, in a video, showed how the anti-poaching camps in Karasing and Potahi wetland, Bandardubi road-cum-highland and floating camp that were either rebuilt or renovated with the actor’s donation.
