North Shillong legislator Adelbert Nongrum has expressed concern over the long hours of load shedding in the state in general and Shillong in particular and urged the state government to revise the load shedding schedules.
According to Nongrum the current load shedding schedule in Shillong starting from 1 am to 5 am daily is causing inconveniences to the public who need to venture out at those hours.
The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) legislator also said that the odd timing of the load shedding gives opportunity for miscreants to take advantage of the situation.
While stating that it was time to revise the load shedding hours, Nongrum suggested that load shedding in the city should be in two phases daily – 4 am to 7 am and again from 12 noon to 1 pm.
