Chinese gave electric shocks to my son in custody: Abducted Arunachal boy’s father

Opang Taron said that his son, Miran, was tied up and blindfolded for over a week.

Shillong:

Opang Taron, the father of Arunachali boy, Miran Taron, who was “abducted” by China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) from the Line of Actual Control (LAC) on January 18, on February 1, said that his son was tortured and given electric shock in PLA’s custody.

Opang informed that his son is facing “mental trauma” and have narrated the ordeal to him after reuniting with the family yesterday. He further claimed that his son was tied up and blindfolded for over a week in the custody of the PLA.

“Taron is still in shock. He was kicked in the back and given a mild electric shock initially. He was kept blindfolded most of the time and his hands were tied during captivity. They untied him only when it was time to eat or relieve himself. But they provided him with adequate food,” he said.

The 19-year-old was handed over to the Indian Army by the Chinese army at the WACHA-DAMAI interaction point at Kibithu in Anjaw district on January 27.

Miram had gone missing from his native village on January 18 while he was navigating his way through a nearby forest. He was abducted from the LAC by the Chinese PLA and was kept in captivity for almost two weeks.
