SHILLONG:
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma released the German edition of “Great Minds on India”, authored by Salil Gewali in the presence of the Arts and Culture Minister, Sanbor Shullai from his residential office, on November 10.
The outcome of exhaustive research spanning over two decades, this title by Gewali has already been translated into thirteen languages. The German edition of the book was translated by Caroline Hagen of Overath, Germany.
Caroline first came across Gewali’s book at a Yoga centre in 2018 in Cologne and was immediately hooked by the contents of the book, particularly by the quotes by Johann Goethe, Albert Einstein, Harman Hesse and Arthur Schopenhauer on the Indian system of knowledge.
Caroline, who is also a yoga enthusiast says – “I consider this effort of mine in translating the book into German as my humble tribute to ancient India. I do have high hopes that this publication will serve as a beacon to spread the real light of the knowledge of the East in the West.”
The title has also been used as study material by some of the academic institutes in the United States run by Non Resident Indians.
Apart from being appreciated worldwide, Gewali’s book has also been formally launched by the governors and the education ministers of Maharashtra and Gujarat.
