Mylliem:
Day two of the filing of nominations for the upcoming assembly elections slated to be held on Feb 27 saw the NPP candidate of Pynthorumkhah constituency Rocky Hek and an independent candidate from Mylliem constituency Richard Nongbsap coming forward to file their nomination papers.
Nongbsap, a first-time candidate, filed his nomination at the office of the Deputy Commissioner East Khasi Hills in Shillong on February 1.
Speaking to a section of the media, Nongbsap said his intention of entering the fray was to voice out the concerns of the poor, who often fall victim to the materialistic greed of politicians.
A daily-wage earner by profession, Nongbsap said that transparency is one such factor that everybody talks about but no one really implements it in the ground.
He has chosen a CCTV camera as his symbol to fight the election for the simple reason that it stands for transparency as it sees and captures everything within its purview.
Nongbsap will be going up against ex-MLA and NPP candidate Hamletson Dohling and veteran politician Ronnie V Lyngdoh of the Congress.
