SHILLONG:
The Dalmia Cement Bharat Limited (DCBL) which operates it’s Dalmia Cement plant at Thangskai village in East Jaintia Hills as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative has launched free school bus service for students from Thangskai area attending regular classes at various schools in Khliehriat, a distance of about 20 km.
“Attending regular classes from Thangskai village and it’s adjacent areas by moving to Khliehriat every day has not been easy for the students,” said unit head Dalmia Cement Bharat Limited (DCBL) Raju Ranjan Prasad while launching the free school service as a chief guest.
He also said that arranging accommodation in town is also difficult for students considering their economic status, so launching a free bus service will greatly help students to continue their studies travelling to and fro between Thangskai and Khliehriat on daily basis.
Prasad also informed that the Company through CSR has taken up various activities to help the communities in the area.
In addition to the developmental activities recently completed in respective village which include skill development training for female on Beautician and Tailoring trades, construction of footpath adjacent to National Highway in order to ensure safe travel for pedestrian, refurbishment of various community buildings, construction of foot bridge, installation of solar street lights, organising free health checkup camps besides others were completed in presence of the Plant HR Head, DCBL Unit, Kumar Bharadwaj, Headman of Thangskai village, Phaibiang Syrti, Village Headman and other elders of the village.
