DIET Nongstoin emerge winner of TEI 2022

The welcome speech was initiated by Dr B Nongbri (DERT) which was followed by prize distribution. DIET Nongstoin however, bags first prize in overall winner of the Inter Teachers Education Institution (TEI).

SHILLONG:

The Inter Teachers Education Institution (TEI) meet, 2022 organised by the Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT), Government of Meghalaya, which began on September 28, came to an end after a three-day event which was held at DERT Annexe, Malki, Shillong.

The closing ceremony was held in the presence of Dr. B D R Tiwari (IAS) Commissioner Secretary of Education Dept, Dr. R Rapthap (IAS) Secretary of Education Dept, J P Lakiang, Director of DERT and other dignitaries in a presence 600 plus participants from across the state.

This event was the first of its kind, where eight District Institute of Education Training (DIET) since its inception coming together under these three days event. These DIETs include Resubelpara, Thadlaskein, Sohra, Nongpoh, Tura, Baghmara, Nongstoin as well as Cherapunji Teachers Training Centre to compete in various activities.

In a speech, Dr. B D R Tiwari said, “With the New Education policy, it becomes very crucial for both teachers and students in which this program will encourage and evaluate how the future teachers are build. Education is a very dynamic sector, but Meghalaya ranks low performance in education when compared with other states. There are institutional problems that cannot be resolved quickly but there is a need for all stakeholders to work together”

“Training is a very crucial part for assessment. Many trainings like this must be initiated as both teachers and students must be open and eager to learn. Teachers are the foundation of any society and these students belonging to DIETS of various parts of the state are the teachers of tomorrow. Therefore, they must learn more and more to keep our ears and minds open and to reflected in our training goals and tasks.” Tiwari stated.

Tiwari also said that the government is aware of the problems regarding the various DIET in the state such as the infrastructure. Therefore, he stated that the government is taking discussions to improve the DIET by providing better infrastructure and to work together as a team for the betterment of all the stakeholders.

The programme was concluded with the National anthem followed by lowering of the flag by Dr R Rapthap.
