Discovery of Axom: YouTube series unveils rural entrepreneurs of Assam

The idea behind the series is to catch the imagination of the younger generation and to inspire them to take the path of entrepreneurship.

GUWAHATI:

A never-before seen YouTube series titled ‘Discovery of Axom’, which showcases rural entrepreneurs silently revolutionizing Assam while earning a livelihood for themselves and providing a livelihood for many, was released on August 14.

The series was produced by Borbhag Foundations and released on YouTube by KC Digital Films on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence.

Rural entrepreneurs, who have sprung up all over Assam, have been carrying out a myriad of activities which they rarely get any recognition for. So to highlight their contribution, the series were created to inspire other people to remain self-reliant and live with dignity and become proud Indians.

“That was the reason we thought of travelling the length and breadth of the state, and we covered 25 such rural entrepreneurs of 15 districts of Brahmaputra Valley travelling non-stop for 15 days covering 1750 kilometres,” said Anirudh Goswami, the founder of the Borbhag Foundation which produced the series.

The series has gone to Morigaon, Kamrup (Rural), Goalpara, Bongaigaon, Barpeta, Nalbari, Darrang, Udalguri, Sonitpur, Biswanth Chariali, Golaghat, Jorhat, Sibsagar, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts, said Samuujal Kashyap of KC Digital Films, which has done the direction and also released it on YouTube under the much acclaimed KC Digital Films Channel.

Explaining the rationale behind the YouTube series, Kashyap said that the idea is to catch the imagination of the younger generation and inspire them to take the path of entrepreneurship, and since the youth are more comfortable with YouTube, the 26 episodes were created.

The series, the first of its kind in the whole of the Northeast, will only be seen on the YouTube channel of KC Digital and every week there will be fresh episodes.

“We have touched upon agriculture, piggery, SME, tourism, environment, fishery, honey and value-added crops, handlooms and tea in this series,” said Anirudh Goswami of Borbhag Foundation.

The series was formally launched in a small function held at the premises of the KC Digital Films, Rajgarh Road where a galaxy of the crowd took part on the eve of the 75th celebration of India’s Independence.
