District magistrate promulgates Section 144

WILLIAMNAGAR, APRIL 16: East Garo Hills District Magistrate, Vibhor Aggarwal, has
promulgated a prohibitory order under Section 144 of the CrPC in the entire district from 4
p.m of 17 April thereby prohibiting holding, attending or addressing of any public meeting or procession in connection with an election, presence of political functionaries, party workers, procession functionaries, campaign functionaries, etc. who have been brought from outside the constituency and who are not voters of the constituency and accommodation of outsiders in kalayan mandapams, community halls etc. where people are kept.

The order also prohibited the use of loud speakers during the period of 48 hours ending
with the poll closing time, exit poll under law from the period from the start of poll in the
first poll day and 30 minutes after the end of poll on the last poll date, publication of the
result of opinion poll conducted at any time in any print or electronic media 48 hours
ending with the hours fixed for conclusion of poll .

This order, however, will not apply to returning officers, assistant returning officers zonal
magistrates, sector magistrates and all those on election duty, armed force personnel or
para-military personnel and other law enforcing agencies on lawful duty or deployment
