SHILLONG:
It is to be noted that, for the holding of General Election to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, 2023, the date of poll is fixed on February 27, 2023, and the date of counting is fixed on March 2, 2023, as per the Election Commission of India.
According to the notice by the District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills, Shillong, Chakravarthy Sadhu, in exercise of the powers conferred upon the District Magistrate under section 144 Cr. P.C., the international border with Bangladesh will be sealed and all movement to and fro the international border will be restricted for the purpose of law and order, safety and public tranquility. Movement of individuals shall remain strictly prohibited within a 1-km radius of the Indo-Bangladesh border of East Khasi Hills District from February 24, 2023, to March 2, 2023.
This order shall come into force with immediate effect and remain in force until further orders.
