EJH Police arrests 3, seizes 32.5 grams of suspected heroin

The trio were travelling in a private vehicle from Silchar to Umsning.


East Jaintia Hills Police arrested three persons and seized 32.5 grams of drugs suspected to be heroin from Ladrymbai market on March 15.

The three arrested persons were identified as Rudolf Franklin Lyngdoh (28) from Umsning village, Ri-Bhoi district, Shemphang Lakhiat (29) from Mawlari Mawkhan, Ri-Bhoi district, and Aibankyrshan Kharlyngdoh from Umsning village, Ri-Bhoi District.

The trio were travelling in a private vehicle from Silchar to Umsning.

According to the Superintendent of Police, Jagpal Singh Dhanoa, a credible source of information was received that the three persons were carrying the consignment from Silchar to Umsning.

Immediately, naka was set-up at Ladrymbai market, NH-06 and at around 3:00 am, the said vehicle was detected and detained.

After observing all formalities and in the presence of independent witnesses, search of the vehicle was conducted and three soap boxes containing yellowish orange colour powder concealed in a black backpack wrapped with yellow colour polythene were detected.

Preliminary test gave positive results for heroin and the net weight was found to be 32.5 gms.
