ENJC petitions MePDCL on high electricity bills

Stating that the electricity bills in the past months were unfair and untimely, the organization alleged that some of the employees do not take readings as per meter.

SHILLONG:

The East Jaintia National Council (EJNC) Sumer circle has written to the official of Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited (MePDCL) on the high amount of electricity bill.

Stating that the electricity bills in the past months were unfair and untimely, the organization alleged that some of the employees do not take readings as per meter.

The organization went on to claim that the MePDCL employees take advantage of the illiterate people and often the people are unable to pay the said amount.

The organization also claimed that the residents receive the current electricity bill which is almost twice the amount of regular bills.

The organization has urged the MePDCL to correct the bills and issue a fresh timely bill every month.
