Former CEM of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Titosstarwell Chyne has said that the Executive Council (EC) during his time closed down all the illegal toll gates.
Briefing media persons on November 13, Chyne condemned current KHADC CEM Pyniaid Sing Syiem’s statement blaming the former EC for not keeping a check on the illegal toll gates.
“He (Syiem) blamed me for not taking action against illegal toll gates, but I want to ask Syiem, when he was in the opposition in the District Council, why wasn’t the issue raised? Actually, right from that time, I had taken action. We closed all the illegal gates in West Khasi Hills and Ri Bhoi districts,” Chyne said.
Chyne also claimed that the Meghalaya Truck Association attributed the closure of illegal toll gates to the former EC.
