Joining the chorus for the demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state, newly elected president of the National People’s Youth Front (NPYF), Kitborlang Nongrem, on January 29, urged the Centre to expedite the process.

Terming chief minister Conrad Sangma-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government’s passing of the official resolution urging the Centre to implement ILP as a “bold” move, Nongrem said, “We want the central government to speed up the matter as it is up to them (to give a final decision).”

On the growing demand for reviewing the state’s jobs reservation policy, the NPP state youth wing leader assured that he would take up the matter with the party’s high level.

Spelling out his priorities as the new president, Nongrem said he would work to strengthen the party in the state. “We would soon start the enrollment drive both online and offline,” he said, urging the youth of to join the NPP and work together for the betterment of the state.

The NPYF president further asserted the need to create an atmosphere of oneness and brotherhood among the three tribes.
