Former Meghalaya DGP Anil Pradhan no more

He served as SP of Jowai, Tura, and then joined the Intelligence Bureau in Delhi before returning to the state to serve as an Inspector General (IG) in the SB, Fire and Emergency Service

SHILLONG:

Former Director General of Police (DGP) of Meghalaya, Anil Pradhan passed away at Escorts-Fortis Heart Hospital in Okhla, New Delhi, on Sunday morning at 6 am.

Pradhan, who was battling heart and lung problems, was admitted in the hospital since February 2 and was tested positive for Covid. His last rites will be performed in Delhi.

Pradhan is survived by his wife, a son, daughter and the grandchildren.

Pradhan, an alumnus of Hindu College, Delhi, was an IPS officer of the 1977 Assam-Meghalaya Cadre.

He served as SP of Jowai, Tura, and then joined the Intelligence Bureau in Delhi before returning to the state to serve as an Inspector General (IG) in the SB, Fire and Emergency Service. He later became the DGP of Meghalaya from May 18, 2009 till August 4, 2009.

He was also the managing director of Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) for a brief period. He was also a member of the governing body of NEIGHRIMS and an active member of the Rotary Club.

He was also the Special Rapporteur of the National Human Rights Commission, Delhi, in-charge of Northeast.
