Four arrested in Jaiaw assault case

The SP informed that the four have been produced in Court and were sent to five-day police custody.

SHILLONG:

Four persons have been arrested for assaulting a traffic policeman, a food delivery boy and two persons from Kerala.

“Based on the identification through various sources, four of the miscreants have been arrested so far. Following their interrogation, their involvement has been confirmed,” East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Sylvester Nongtnger said, in a statement issued on June 29.

He said that the district police are on the job to apprehend the rest of the culprits.

The SP informed that the four have been produced in Court and were sent to five-day police custody.

On June 24, a group of bikers assaulted a traffic policeman on being stopped at SD, Khongwir junction, Mawlai Iewrynghep for not wearing helmets. Following that, on their way back, they assaulted a food delivery boy near Mahari Petrol Pump, Jaiaw and later headed towards Jaiaw Pdeng.

They then stopped at ES Restaurant and assaulted the two persons from Kerala, who are interns of Impulse NGO Network. Two FIRs were filed at the Lumdiengjri police station and one at Mawlai police station.
