Ganol project: Workers’ Union holds protest demanding release of salaries

The president of an association Justin T Sangma said, they had submitted a memorundum on the issue to the authorities but to no avail.

Members of the All  Garo Hills electrician Association held a protest, on March 17, as part of their first phase of agitation to press upon the company engaged in construction of the Ganol Hydel project to release their dues which have been pending since 2019.
The president of an association Justin T Sangma said, they had submitted a memorundum on the issue to the authorities but to no avail.
The workers have been facing problems due to neglect of their dues by the company, he added.
According to the association, the pending salaries of the workers have risen to over Rs 20 lakh due to non payment of dues.
They warned that if the authorities fail to fulfill their demands, they will be compelled to hold an indefinite strike that will halt all ongoing works in the hydel project.
