In a similar case, Lyngdoh and Masharing were also served notice for holding a similar meeting at Umsarang village after 10:00 pm without permission, adding that loud PA system was used after permissible time of 10 pm.

UMROI:

The Returning Officer (RO) of Umroi constituency, on Friday, served show case notices to TMC candidate from Umroi George B Lyngdoh and an election agent, C Longmanbha Masharing for violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by holding meetings in two places without permission.

“Whereas it has come to the notice of the undersigned (Returning Officer) through police report, that you conducted a public meeting today (Feb 17) at Umket village at 10:00 am without permission,” the notice read.

In a similar case, Lyngdoh and Masharing were also served notice for holding a similar meeting at Umsarang village after 10:00 pm without permission, adding that loud PA system was used after permissible time of 10 pm.

“This amounts to violation of Model Code of Conduct, provision of Representation of Peoples Act 1951 and guidelines,” read the notice.

Both Lyngdoh and Masharing have been asked to send their replies to the RO by February 20 at 11 am, failing which it will be assumed that they have nothing to submit in the matter.
