SHILLONG:
The state education department, in an order issued on February 2, allowed the resumption of offline classes for students of Classes 6-12 across the state with immediate effect.
However, for the time being, students of Classes 1-5 in Shillong Urban Agglomeration will continue with online class until further orders are issued, the circular read.
The department has also directed the Deputy Commissioners to assess the risk factor locally and decide on reopening of schools taking into consideration the Covid cases and in consultation with the district health officials.
The order also stated that the consent of parents will be paramount, and they will have the final say on the physical presence of their wards in schools.
