Govt to come up with OTT platform – ‘Hello Meghalaya’

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that this OTT platform is at a nascent stage, built with an objective of providing a platform for the youth interested in mass media like movie making and music videos to publish their content and earn some revenue from it.

SHILLONG:

The Meghalaya government is building an OTT platform called “Hello Meghalaya” to provide income to local artists and a platform for citizens to host local content.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that this OTT platform is at a nascent stage, built with an objective of providing a platform for the youth interested in mass media like movie making and music videos to publish their content and earn some revenue from it.

Stating that the platform is somewhat similar to YouTube, Sangma, however, said that people do not require one or two lakh views to get monetary benefit.

“We will reduce that number so that it becomes easier for our youth to start coming on to the platform and earn some revenue. We will incentivise in such a manner so that you earn revenue even with lesser viewership,” he added.

The chief minister informed that the government is working out the package to make payments based on the traction one gets.
