SHILLONG:
Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Public Works Department (PWD) Prestone Tynsong, on March 25, said that the department is waiting for executive engineer Ransom Sutnga’s reply on the show cause notice issued to him for his alleged involvement in political activities before the end of this month.
“The time given to him will be up this month-end,” said Tynsong, adding that he cannot divulge much right now as action by the government will depend upon the justification given by Sutnga in his reply. “Once we receive that we will see what is to be done,” he said.
Earlier in the just concluded Assembly session, a zero-hour notice was moved by All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) legislator from Rangsakona Zenith Sangma demanding action to be taken against Sutnga for violating the Meghalaya Service Conduct Rules, 2019.
Quoting a news report, Sangma had said that Sutnga, who is the executive engineer in PWD (Building) and WR Kharlukhi, who is the Rajya Sabha MP and state president of the National People’s Party (NPP), held a party meeting under Shillong North constituency recently where the latter felicitated Sutnga announcing him to be the party’s candidate from Shillong North in the next Assembly polls.
