The main leaders of Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) and United Democratic Party (UDP) on October 10 held a meeting to form an alliance and discuss how to strengthen the party in preparation for the upcoming 2023 Assembly elections.
Apart from preparing for the upcoming polls, the two political parties from Umroi constituency also discussed many other issues related to strengthening of the regional parties in the area.
After a long discussion, the leaders of both the parties agreed to form one party consisting of members of HSPDP and UDP under the name Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA), Umroi constituency.
New leaders and members for the alliance were also elected, with PB Sylliang chosen as the chairman, Peter Madur as vice chairman, Ailong Pariat as the secretary, Pynskhem Sun as the assistant secretary, Lumlang Lamarai as organising secretary, and 39 others as members of the executive committee.
The only decision the members of the RDA has not decided upon is the candidate who would represent them and which party to support.
They will hold another meeting in which all the supporters and leaders from both the parties will vote/decide who the candidate for RDA will be from Umroi constituency for the 2023 polls.
