ILP will not impact tourism sector in state: FKJGP

“We came to know that the tourism sector in Sikkim has not been affected by the implementation of ILP after interacting with officials and groups who are working in the field of tourism,” FKJGP president, Dundee Cliff Khongsit said.

SHILLONG:

The Federation of Khasi, Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP), on April 10, said that the implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) is not going to have an impact on the tourism sector as claimed by the state government.

Speaking to reporters after meeting various stakeholders in the tourism department, FKJGP president, Dundee Cliff Khongsit said that the federation had recently carried out a case study in Sikkim to know if ILP has any negative impact on their tourism sector.

“We came to know that the tourism sector in Sikkim has not been affected by the implementation of ILP after interacting with officials and groups who are working in the field of tourism,” Khongsit said.

Khongsit therefore urged upon the state government not to mislead the people and to pursue with the Centre that ILP should be implemented in the State.

Meanwhile, FKJGP president has advocated that the state government should make it mandatory registration of the tourists who are visiting the State.
