JOWAI:
Two social organisations along with traditional heads from Jaintia Hills on September 22 apprised the Chief Executive Member of Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) on the random issue of No Objection Certificate (NOC) to non-tribal labourers in Jaintia Hills.
The Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU) and Jaintia Youth Federation (JYF) of West Jaintia Region leaders met JHADC CEM Finely Bareh and asked him to take necessary steps to control the issue of NOC to non-tribal workers in Jaintia Hills.
The JHADC CEM was informed that recklessly issuing these NOCs has deprived the local people of job opportunities. They also demanded Grade-IV jobs be given to locals if they are deemed able for the work.
The two organisations have also warned that going forward, if such a thing still happens, they will take the matter to court.
