Joining TMC was Mukul’s biggest political blunder: Congress

AICC media coordinator Bobbeeta Sharma said Mukul Sangma should have taken a cue from former Lok Sabha speaker late Purno A Sangma's short-term association with TMC.

SHILLONG:

All India Congress Committee (AICC) media coordinator Bobbeeta Sharma, on February 1, said that former chief minister Mukul Sangma made the biggest political blunder of his life by joining the Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Sharma, who is in Shillong to review the party’s poll preparedness ahead of the assembly elections along with her colleague Mathew Antony, said Mukul should have taken a cue from former Lok Sabha speaker late Purno A Sangma’s short-term association with TMC.

“Late Purno Sangma had also joined TMC long time back but, he didn’t last long. At that time itself, they should have realised that the people of Meghalaya will never accept TMC because it is an outsider party,” Sharma said.

Painting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with the same brush, the AICC leader warned the National People’s Party (NPP) of associating itself with the BJP.

“NPP should be careful when they go to the BJP for protection because it would only mean they are hand in glove with an outsider party,” she added.
