KHNAM wants personal interviews done away with

Youth Wing president of KHNAM Thomas Passah pointed out that the central government has put up a notification doing away with personal interview dated November 16, 2015.

SHILLONG:

The Khun Hynñiewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has again reiterated its stand to do away with personal interviews for posts in groups B, C and D.

Youth Wing president of KHNAM Thomas Passah pointed out that the central government has put up a notification doing away with personal interview dated November 16, 2015.

“The basic principle to do away with personal interviews is to stop nepotism during recruitment for government jobs,” Passah said.

He also stated that, as per the central government notification, the personal interview is a waste of time for the officers of the different departments and also a waste of public money.

As such, the Centre has done away with personal interviews in 23 states in the countrysince January 1, 2016, he said.

He reminded the government that KHNAM has sent a memorandum that Meghalaya should also follow the centre’s notification so that recruitment in government jobs in different departments is not one-sided and partial to some applicants.

Passah also urged upon a proper recruitment policy in the state – alleging that unemployed youths fill up application forms for jobs only to receive call letters after three years.

“In the recruitment policy, there will be a [standard operating procedure], so that there should be a time frame between the advertisement, the written test and the declaration of the results and simultaneously appointment,” he said.

Passah added that recruitment to government jobs is not systematic and organised, and thus inspires very little confidence in the youth.
