NONGSTOIN:
The Khasi Students Union (KSU), West Khasi Hills District Unit, felicitated five meritorious students on Saturday by handing over the ‘Wickliffe Syiem’ award at a function held at Upper New Nongstoin.
A cash award along with the mementoes was distributed to all the 5 toppers and rank holders of the SSLC and HSSLC examination of 2021.
The awardees were Kevin Lawrynniang (96%) from St. Thomas HSS Mairang, Queen Annabel Basaiawmoit (94.50%) from St. Thomas HSS Mairang, P. Sarasaphi Lyngdoh (92.83%) from Anderson HSS Upper New Nongstoin, Daphiniewkor Wahlang (92.83%) from Anderson HSS Upper New Nongstoin and Elfie Wanniang (HSSLC Commerce 90.2%) from Anderson HSS Upper New Nongstoin.
Speaking at the programme as chief guest, KSU president John Fisher Nongsiang congratulated the students for their good performance and wished them a prosperous future.
Nongsiang urged the students not to feel inferior when competing with others in their higher studies.
“Khasi youths are now balanced with others and they can become IAS, IPS officers, scientists etc,” he added.
