The consignment was headed for Garo Hills.

TURA:

Assam police on Saturday raided a newly constructed and abandoned house belonging to one Masibur Rahman at Jordanga Barmanpara village, bordering a Garo Hills village.

Sources said the consignment was headed for Garo Hills.

On Saturday around 6:30 pm, Assam’s Mankachar Police Station seized a substantial number of stolen items including cigarettes, eye shades, and interestingly, women’s lingerie.

Police recovered 17 packets of bra lingerie with each packet containing 12 pieces.

They also seized Australian brand cigarettes Benson & Hedges cigarette packets, 46 bundles containing 10 packets per bundle, and 20 cigarettes per packet valued at Rs 20,400.

Another item seized was 550 sunglasses valued at approximately Rs 1,10,000 in the market.

The total value of the seized items has been put at Rs. 1,83,540.

Women’s lingerie appears to be the “in” thing in today’s high-end market for criminals, if one takes into account today’s confiscation of illegal items from a known criminal residing across the Garo Hills border, in neighbouring Assam.
