SHILLONG:
The logo and the mascot for the second North East Olympics was launched on September 26 during a curtain raiser held at Pine Wood Hotel, Shillong.
The official games logo is driven by solidarity and is shaped similar to the map of the North Eastern region of the country.
“Neo” the official games mascot is inspired by the Clouded Leopard, the state animal of Meghalaya which is also a vulnerable species. The attire worn by “Neo” is a fusion of the culture of the prominent tribes of Meghalaya.
The second edition of the games are scheduled to be held in Shillong from November 10 to 16, and over 3000 athletes will be competing in 18 sports disciplines.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma was the chief guest on the occasion.
