Imphal:
As a result of the rising covid-19 cases in Manipur over the past week, the state government has decided to close down all schools including government/government-aided/private schools/schools affiliated to CBSE till July 24.
As per reports, the schools were scheduled to reopen on July 16. However, with the increasing number of coronavirus-positive cases and the test positivity rate crossing 15%, children below 12 years of age are yet to be vaccinated, thus rising their possibility to get infected by COVID-19 extensively.
Therefore, the state government instructed that all schools in the state will remain closed till July 24 keeping the safety, health and well-being of the students in mind.
To avoid any misinformation or confusion regarding the Manipur School closing orders, State Chief Minister N. Biren Singh took to Twitter to announce the decision, he wrote, “With the increasing number of Covid-19 positive cases in the state in the past few days, the Government of Manipur have directed all schools of the state to remain closed till the 24th of this month (sic).”
