SHILLONG:
A massive fire engulfed a building (Janata Furniture) near Payal Cinema at Thana Road, Police Bazar in the afternoon at around 1:20 pm of October 14.
According to an eyewitness who was at the spot when the incident happened the fire started due to an electrical error, however, exact reason of the fire could not be ascertained till the filing of this report.
According to other reports, blast of cylinder appears to be the reason for the fire incident.
Eyewitnesses also said that the Fire Brigade came almost 40 minutes late, which led the fire to spread at rapid pace.
The Meghalayan tried to contact Sadar Police Station to get more details on the incident, however, the IC could not be reached.
Several fire tenders of Meghalaya Fire service also struggled to move forward due to the narrow way in Thana Road.
Meanwhile, more details are awaited on the fire accident.
