National People’s Party (NPP) spokesperson Ampareen Lyngdoh, on May 19, said that the sole purpose of the MLAs of the MDA 2.0 is to protect the interest of the people of the state of Meghalaya.
She said, “We do not take the mandate to form a government to be popular…. The MDA 2.0 is here to govern, to show the way, to engineer, to put in place, to correct errors of the past, whether that takes us to a better level politically or whether it will jeopardise our political survival is irrelevant.”
She also said that the government is governing with confidence and cooperation from all players in the political field and did not exempt any party from bringing forward their observations.
However, a term of reference will be put into place so that it can be reminded that the existence of a committee is for a specific reason and that discussions are not picked up randomly just to serve the purpose of popularity for any political party.
“Our interest is very focused, the people of the state of Meghalaya should be protected and all citizens must be protected as per law,” she added.
