Mukul Sangma (centre) displays the digital countdown clock on Tuesday

SHILLONG:

Indicating that the end of the NPP-led MDA government in Meghalaya is near, the Meghalaya Trinamool Congress, on February 21, installed digital countdown clocks at the Meghalaya TMC Party Offices in Shillong, Jowai.

Party leaders said that the clock – set to the March 2, 2023–the date on which counting of votes for the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections will be held, will remind the people that the dark days of the state will soon be over.

Signalling the end of the MDA government, Leader of Opposition and TMC Legislature Party Leader Mukul Sangma said, “The time is ticking. The day is not far that Meghalaya will be free from this corrupt government, and we will restore the name, fame and past glory of this beautiful state.”

Sangma said that the clock will also serve as a reminder to the leaders who were a part of the alliance with NPP, which he alleged has wrecked the lives of the people of Meghalaya.

The installed countdown clock has the party symbol – ‘twin flowers with three petals’ along with the slogan “SAVE MEGHALAYA, VOTE FOR TMC.” The clock also carried the slogan “GOODBYE INEPT NPP-LED MDA,” sending a strong message to the MDA government.
