SHILLONG:

Nambie Jessica Marak from Meghalaya has soared to the top 12 of MasterChef India 2023. Nambie, the creative force behind ‘Eat Your Kappa,’ a YouTube channel dedicated to Northeastern food and culture, is now making waves on the national culinary stage.

Kappa, a Garo cooking method known for its distinct flavours, serves as the cornerstone of Marak’s culinary journey. Despite relocating to Madras for higher studies and work, she longed for the northeastern flavours of her upbringing. Inspired by her passion, she launched ‘Eat Your Kappa’ to share these authentic tastes with a wider audience.

Nambie’s journey underscores her dedication to preserving and celebrating Meghalaya’s rich culinary heritage.

Sharing the news on her social media page, Marak wrote, “Embracing my roots, cooking up dreams. Proud to be a tribal chef”. As she continues her quest on MasterChef India 2023, she’s already a source of pride for Meghalaya and the entire Northeast.
