Metbah lauds party workers for hardwork

The UDP president expressed joy to see members of Hill State People Democratic Party (HSPDP), Nationalist People’s Party (NPP), People’s Democratic Front (PDF) and Congress joined the regional party

MAWKYRWAT:

The Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly and president of United Democratic Party, Metbah Lyngdoh said that he was ecstatic to see members of Hill State People Democratic Party (HSPDP), Nationalist People’s Party (NPP), People’s Democratic Front (PDF) and Congress joined the regional party.

He expressed his gratitude to UDP workers from various circles and district for their hardwork to win over members from different political parties while speaking at a function held at Presbyterian Ground, Mawkyrwat on Saturday.

Lyngdoh said UDP is an old party and substantiated what he said by citing examples of (Late) B.B Nongsiej who was the UDP MLA and MDC. He stated that Mawkyrwat UDP played a big role in recent years for helping it be a major political party in the state.

He is hopeful that UDP will emerge victorious in the coming Assembly election not only in Mawkyrwat, but also in other parts of the state. He urge the Khasis, Jaintias and Garo communities to unite so that the party can play a leading role to take the state to greater heights.

The UDP president also said that the party has not made any commitment to give party tickets to anyone as Mawkyrwat Circle will recommend the names of the candidates to the UDP Central Body.
